Malawi was not directly involved in the process to develop a Political Declaration on the use of explosive weapons in populated areas. It was, however, among the first group of states to endorse the Political Declaration in Dublin in November 2022. At the Dublin Conference in November 2022, Malawi expressed concern over the impact of the use of explosive weapons in populated areas on women and children and said that states need to make commitments to adopt and implement policies and practices by restricting and refraining from use of explosive weapons in populated areas in populated areas.1
